The Department of Public Safety provides law enforcement, security, and emergency services to the Olin and Babson College communities 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Public Safety consists of 20 sworn police officers and 7 civilian employees. The Department oversees the handling of emergency medical responses, medical escort services, fire safety and detection, crime prevention, safety escorts, and parking enforcement.

Officers will investigate all complaints and violations of Massachusetts State law or Olin College policy which may result in the filing of criminal charges through the State Judicial System and/or complaints referred to the Office of Student Life and the Olin College Honor Board. In certain cases, investigations are carried out in conjunction with local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies.

The Department provides a wide range of services designed to inform students and employees about ways to increase security on campus: release of a police log to the campus newspaper, bicycle patrol, articles on crime prevention, Campus Watch program, presentations during Orientation, and a safety escort program.

Members of the Department of Public Safety check exterior doors on a random basis. Exterior residence hall doors are locked 24 hours a day. Classroom and administrative buildings are secured at the conclusion of normally scheduled business hours. These hours may vary given the events scheduled for each building or campus site.

The College community can contact the Department of Public Safety at 781-239-5555 or Public Safety . Further information is available at the Public Safety Website.
